How to create isometric structures using an inherently non-isometric fabrication technique

Research

Aida article

In their recent publication, Aída Gabriela Fernández Contreras, with Alice Nicolas, Jean Herve Tortai, Boudewijn van der Sanden, Olivier Stephan, Ayla Biallas, Inès Paysan and Chloé VIAT tackle the challenge of fabricating isometric 3D cell culture scaffolds using two-photon polymerization (TPP).

The team explored and developed practical design and fabrication strategies to overcome voxel-induced distortions and proximity effects that enabled the creation of isometric, bio-inspired 3D fibrous scaffolds with finely tuned geometries. This platform allows to isolate cell behavior response to matrix geometry without influence of fabrication artifacts.
